Alex West is Chief Innovation Officer at Artlogic, the business platform for galleries, artists and collectors, having joined the company through its 2025 merger with ArtCloud, the Atlanta-based art-tech platform he founded and led as CEO.
West studied computer science and engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology before building a career at the intersection of technology and business, including time at the enterprise technology company NCR and the logistics startup Shiplify. In 2015, he founded ArtCloud, building it into a fast-growing platform focused on collector engagement, AI-driven tools, and integrated payments for galleries and artists.
He has spoken publicly and extensively about the merger and his product philosophy, including in interviews with Hypepotamus and Artnet, emphasizing that technology should reduce the operational burden on galleries rather than add to it: as he put it, technology can't lower a gallery's rent, but it can help make sure their efforts go further.
West's perspective is shaped by first-hand experience owning and operating an art gallery in Atlanta and having built and scaled his own art-tech company from the ground up, then merged it into a larger platform – giving him a rare, founder-level view of what galleries, artists and collectors actually need from their technology, not just what's technically possible. His writing for Artlogic focuses on where AI, collector engagement and innovation are heading in the art market, in support of the company's mission of helping the art world thrive.
