Tim Bavington

Tim Bavington, British-born American painter (best known for his adaptations of musical scales to abstract painting and colorful public sculpture), tells us about his onboarding journey with Artlogic.
From operating a studio amongst the hubbub of the Las Vegas Strip, to building the confidence and resources to scale, Bavington’s long-standing career and experience culminated in a need for an integrated platform that’s transformed admin from a chore to a joy: “With Artlogic I actually enjoy creating the digital paper trail and having a proper record of work when it goes out.”
The Challenge:
Reflecting on his 25-year journey as an artist, Tim highlights the importance of keeping meticulous records: “I'm a full-time artist and before long you reach a stage where you have to keep records and obviously the database gets bigger and bigger.”
Initially navigating the challenge of finding suitable database management software for Mac users, Bavington settled on FileMaker, later utilizing Art Stacks and then Gallery Manager. However, Bavington sought a more comprehensive solution, leading him to Artlogic.
The Solution:
Having conducted market research and assessed the alternatives, Bavington was drawn to Artlogic because of its user experience and fully-integrated offering: “Artlogic was something I wanted to use – it certainly looked great and it looked like it would be a good solution as it would provide database management and website management too.”
Transitioning to Artlogic was a smooth process for Bavington, facilitated by clear instructions and robust support resources. Finding the onboarding experience to be positive overall, Bavington remarks: “The onboarding experience was really good, and the people that helped were really helpful” having completed the move to Artlogic in less than a month.
The Results:
Since onboarding to Artlogic, Bavington has found joy efficiently managing his inventory and transactions. With the system in place, Bavington feels more confident about scaling up, with plans to potentially relocate to a larger studio space: “I'm scaling up this year… If we've moved to a new space, I don’t need to worry about Artlogic because it's as efficient as it gets. It makes operations so smooth – compared to Artlogic, our previous system would look like Flintstone’s technology.”
