An Artlogic client of over a decade, Chaucer Silverson, Artch Gallery Director, is dedicated to local artists and bringing broader exposure to their work. Nestled amongst the Rocky Mountains in Bozeman, Montana, Artch Gallery represents a spectrum of genre: from abstract art to contemporary Native American works, figurative, impressionistic, and everything in between.
The Challenge
For Chaucer Silverson, the decision to invest in Artlogic was born out of a need for better visibility: “I depend on knowing where everything is”. Looking for an all-in-one solution to organize information, sales, contact, and collection management, as well as artwork and invoice tracking, Silverson was referred to Artlogic by a fellow gallery owner who had seen success with the platform and knew it would be the solution to Silverson’s challenges.
Artch Gallery deployed Artlogic to diversify from a straight up art gallery to a comprehensive fine art services business: Big Sky Art Ops, that catalogs and manages collections as well as providing storage, transportation, and installations. The platform is also used to market art from artist’s and collector’s estates. With a diverse set of needs, Silverson found that there are few programs capable of fulfilling a diverse and growing scope of fine art priorities quite like Artlogic.
The Solution
With Artlogic, Silverson “can use contacts and artworks in a variety of ways. With one type of input, the team can generate multitudes of output that allows for more time spent working with a wider spectrum of potential clients.”
“The speed at which I can generate reports, views, and get things to clients in a timely manner is excellent. Most of the time I can generate and send a private view to a client before I get off the phone with them.”
With Artlogic as the backbone of operations at Artch Gallery, it’s used for everything from inventory management, Private View links, presentations, and the website. The gallery really makes the most of the tools Artlogic has to offer to run as efficiently as possible: “From website publishing and creating artwork offers, to information sheets, Private Views, making sales, and tracking expenses – it’s all streamlined with Artlogic.”
The Results
Silverson’s favorite and most-used feature is the Private View links for their professionalism and impact: “[Private Views are] incredibly professional and take very little time to create and modify. I can present collections of works to specific audiences rapidly and effectively.”
Further, the time and money saved by linking the inventory management to an Artlogic website has created a dependable tool for Artch: “Once it's set up, it's more dependable than posting or building reports manually, cost effective for myself and employees, and well formatted for the client /user.”Lastly, Artlogic has significantly decreased the administrative burden for Artch Gallery, aiding staff during conversations with collectors, managing portfolios, organizing bulk information uploads, and maintaining a clean aesthetic website. For Silverson, the singularity of data entry is significant: “I only have to enter the information once to use in a variety of ways: showing, consigning, selling, working with portfolios of work. I use Artlogic with collectors, artists, artist estates, art consultants, and designers – seamlessly.”
