Back in 2022, Artlogic ran the Young and Emerging Gallery Initiative in partnership with London Gallery Weekend. The initiative’s mission was to support the success of newer galleries within the London art scene, and play a meaningful part in helping emerging galleries establish themselves for years to come.

The initiative’s outcome awarded three chosen galleries (Rose Easton, Indigo and Madder, and Gossamer Fog) with participation in London Gallery Weekend 2022, a year’s free subscription to an Artlogic Pro package, and Website Unlimited. In addition, the chosen three galleries received 1:1 consultations with a senior Artlogic specialist to advise each gallery on how they could get the most out of the platform.

A year on from the initiative, Artlogic caught up with Rose Easton. We talk about their favourite Artlogic features, tips for London Gallery weekend exhibitors, and the reasons behind Rose Easton’s choice to remain as an Artlogic client beyond the Young and Emerging Gallery Initiative.

Cast your mind back to the Young and Emerging Gallery Initiative in 2022, what inspired you to enter? And, how has being a selected gallery helped over the past year?

I saw the prize offered a year of Artlogic for free as well as paid entry to London Gallery Weekend (LGW) which was a brilliant combo! The gallery was so young at the time, only our third or fourth show by the time I applied, and we certainly didn’t have the budget for either Artlogic or LGW, but having worked at a gallery with Artlogic previously, I knew how brilliant it was and so the opportunity to have access to it was very enticing.

"Having Artlogic this past year has been crucial... It has really streamlined and simplified processes for us."

Being a part of LGW last year was brilliant and the gallery received lots of exposure as a result. Having Artlogic this past year has been crucial, for fairs and inventory management, as well as consignments.

As a gallerist, how has using Artlogic improved your day-to-day life? Any favourite features?

Artlogic has really streamlined and simplified processes for us – Artlogic allows us to track everything from the moment we consign right through to shipping the work to the client, everything is streamlined, efficient and professional.

"It keeps everything all in one place!"

And, it keeps everything all in one place! I think the Private Views feature is probably one of the favourite features, but also just the fact that Artlogic does everything – from consignments to contacts, invoicing and Certificates of Authenticity etc.

If you could give yourself one piece of advice as a gallerist at the start of your career, what would it be?

Learn to live on less sleep!

Well, we can’t promise you more sleep, but we can promise that Artlogic will save you time… Other than lack of sleep, can you describe a challenge you face running a successful gallery, and how Artlogic helps you to overcome that challenge?

As we are still very young (only a tiny team of me and my part time assistant, Blue), the main challenge is just working out how to split yourself and your time to cover many different roles. Artlogic helps in that everything is in one place so it's easier to keep track of the administrative side of things.
